25-year-old musician, barrett was born and raised in the western North Carolina mountain town of Boone, NC. Born with a guitar in his hands, barrett was highly influenced by the Appalachian music tradition he heard while growing up. Raised by a people who found common place in sitting and enjoying the mountains while jamming their numerous instruments together, barrett was encouraged at every step to continue playing and singing to the instruments that made him feel most alive. Today, barrett is a Boone, NC born musician who seamlessly blends the Appalachian bluegrass tradition that gave him his start with the contemporary influences of artists like the Backseat Lovers, Shakey Graves, Mumford and Sons, and Bon Iver. His music serves as a bridge between generations of Appalachian storytelling and the contemporary sounds that inspire him, inviting listeners to experience the mountains that made him who he is.
