Hylands park is fully closed for State Fayre. This applies to the whole park, including The Stables visitor centre and The Deli café, the Pleasure Gardens and One World Garden and all the estate’s car parks. Entry to the park through the Writtle Gate entrance (A414 dual carriageway) will only be available for pre-authorised vehicles. These areas reopen on Tuesday 30th June.

All permissive footpaths through the estate (marked in red on the map overleaf) will be closed. Permissive footpaths are pathways you’re allowed to use because the landowner has made the route available to the public. These will reopen on Monday 29 June.

Across Thursday 25th – Monday 29th June, we plan to implement an extensive & robust External Crowd Safety, Security & Traffic Management Operation. The overall goal is to reduce and minimise any disruption within the local-areas and roadways surrounding the events site itself.  Please expect and plan for increased vehicle & pedestrian movements throughout the weekend. More information to be provided on this webpage in due course.

We anticipate minimal impact on public transport during the day due to phased arrivals; however, Chelmsford Station may be busier than usual. The station will be particularly busy on Friday 26th, Saturday 27th, and Sunday 28th June between approximately 11:00 – 17:00 hrs and 22:00 – 01:00 hrs. Please allow extra time for travel during these periods. All necessary provisions will be made to facilitate access for local residents.

Expect an increase in pedestrian activity during the show weekend. The main pedestrian routes will be:

From Chelmsford town, across the Widford Church roundabout, entering the park via a gate immediately south of the church.

Via the underpass from Paradise Road under Greenbury Way.

We will be working with an external competent acoustic consultant who will draft and oversee our noise management plan (NMP) and will be on and offsite to monitor sound levels on event days.

If you have any noise-related issues or queries at any point during the show, you can get in touch via the community hotline or dedicated resident email address. A number will be added to this webpage closer to the events.

Strobe lighting – pyrotechnics, lasers, smoke machines, strobe lighting/special effects may take place during some performances.
