STATE FAYRE WILL TAKE PLACE AT HYLANDS PARK, CHELMSFORD

Hylands Park is located within Hylands Estate, a prestigious Grade II* listed public park encompassing 574 acres of historic parkland and is the jewel in Chelmsford’s crown.

With a rich and varied history, Hylands was built around 1730 for Sir John Comyns; the original house was a red brick Queen Anne style mansion with approximately 400 acres of land. Through the numerous ownerships and architectural changes the Estate became its largest in the Victorian era during John Atwood’s ownership where the Estate stood at 4,300 acres. Now at approximately 574 acres Hylands Estate is enjoyed by thousands of people that visit the Park and to use the house as a venue.

There is plenty to do at Hylands Estate, whatever the weather and whenever the time of year! They have a wide range of events and workshops taking place throughout the year; however, the grounds are open all throughout the year for you to visit when the park is open, making it the ideal visitor destination to explore at your leisure. Explore Hylands Estate on foot following five mapped walks, ranging from a 30-minute stroll to a four-mile leisurely hike.
